My family has always loved sports! We coach, participate in and are avid spectators all for the love of sports. My father was an amazing baseball player with such blazing speed, they called his “Flash.” Tennis and golf were also his games of choice. Richard, my sweet brother played football, baseball and golf very well. My sister Nora was an unbelievable softball and basketball player and a great golfer. While I have more of my mother’s gifts (singing and dancing), I love sports too.
Whether we are a coach, participant or spectator, our passion for the love of sports can teach us so many life lessons. As a high school coach, I was able to touch so many young lives in a positive way. As a player you learn the value of teamwork and supporting others. Offering your own gifts and talents to the team, you appreciate and value the gifts of others. Cheering for our favorite teams and players, we learn about being positive role models that demonstrate sportsmanship. We have fierce loyalties and rivalries that teach us the value of healthy loyalty and competition. I am sure if you love sports you feel this way too!
