PHOTOGRAPHY CAN CAPTURE THE MOMENT!

Photography is such an artistic hobby! What I love most is how photography can capture the moment. It is a hobby that I still love today!

I got my first camera when I was about 12 years old. It was a Spartus Full-Vue and when my parents got their first 35 mm, they gave me one of their other cameras.  They also had a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye but they continued to use it.  All the cameras at that time required film and the one I had took only black and white pictures. We sent the used film away to be developed. I discovered that I needed to hold the camera perfectly still to prevent the blurry outcome of the early pictures.

There are many photographers that are skilled in one or more types of photography as there are at least 50 different types of photography listed at link in the next line~

Photography Categories – Types of Photography

My personal preferences are landscape photography, family portraits, nature, travel and animals.  I have traveled to a few foreign countries and had the opportunity to complete my visit to all 50 states in the U.S. last summer.  There was always a camera with me as I knew photography can capture the moment! Over time, the style, form, and function of cameras evolved and so did my collection. The 35 mm was a long standing standard for my parents.

Look at all these models!

While the 35 mm was the choice of photography buffs, it was gradually supplemented with a variety of instamatics.   These types of cameras were great for the more casual photographer who did not want to mess with settings. Point and click and you captured the moment quickly!

Next came the ever-popular polaroid. We thought this was so cool, because it was instant gratification. No unloading the film and taking it to the nearby drugstore to be developed. Bingo, tug and pull, let it dry and share the moment immediately!

Since Photography Can Capture the Moment in so many ways…

Currently the digital camera on phones is the one of the most popular.  I still prefer my Canon Rebel but the phone is much more convenient when traveling. I actually had one of the first digital cameras that required the 3×3 disk for recording the pictures.

Photography is primarily a hobby for me but if anyone is interested in pursuing this as a professional career, the following website lists qualities that are essential for success in the profession.

I had a great opportunity to take an online class and learn from Annie Liebowitz who is a renowned photographer and known for her skill in Portraiture Photography. It was a wonderful opportunity to see through the lens of a professional!
